The Academy
Educating the Mind, Nurturing the Spirit
The Academy follows the curriculum established by Illinois State Board of Education. Illinois’ standards are aligned with the Common Core State Standards. Therefore, students receive instruction at the appropriate grade level in the following areas:
- English/Language Arts
- Fine Arts
- Math
- Physical Education/Health
- Science
- Social Sciences
While Oakdale Academy uses the academic standards required by the State of Illinois, the curriculum is not limited to those standards alone. They also incorporate other proven educational methodologies that address the needs of individual students.
All children receive Bible instruction, a task that staff take very seriously. Students learn Bible verses and stories that broaden and enrich their learning experience. The Parent/Guardian is expected to be as supportive of these Biblical principles as they are of reading and writing. More information will be available the first week of school.
Since physical education is part of the curriculum, teachers will notify parents of gym schedules. Students are also introduced to computers and their use in an educational setting. We have an academic intervention program at the Academy for mathematics and reading. All students are not eligible for this program. Guidelines can be given upon request.
